Paul Simper
Through the 1980s Paul Simper worked as a writer for one of the UK's top pop magazines, No.1, covering the exploits of all the biggest music acts of the decade from Wham! to Madonna. He had a particularly close relationship with Spandau Ballet, whom he first met as a humble journalism student in Cardiff at one of their legendary 'secret' gigs, and after travelling the world with them he was comissioned to write their intimate authorised account of it all. His other book, 'The Saint:From Big Screen To Small Screen And Back Again', detailed the behind-the-scenes process of filming one of The Sixties' most popular cult series and included fresh interviews with the producers, writers, directors and actors that were a part of it and an exclusive interview with its star and co-producer, Roger Moore.
In between Paul has continued to indulge his love of movies and television by writing showbiz features for the popular woman's weekly, Best Magazine, as well as writing two series for Channel 4 of the show Exploitica in which the creators took the scissors to exploitation nudie, sci-fi and horror movies of the past to create some startling comic creations.
Inspired by working alongside the editors on Exploitica, Paul then learnt how to edit on Avid & Final Cut Pro before editing and writing two documentaries, Expedition 360, for the Discovery Channel about the blighted efforts of two Brits trying to circumnavigate the globe by pedal power.
